Rabbi Yeshua told us, “Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets” Mt 7:12, cf. Lk 6:31.
It came from the Oral Law, written down finally by Rabbi Judah Ha-Nasi, in Mishna Shabbat 31a. Rabbi Hillel, asked by a convert to teach him the whole Torah while he stood on one leg, declared, “That which is hateful unto you do not do to your neighbor. This is the whole of the Torah, The rest is commentary. Go and study it.” Rabbi Yeshua re-stated it positively Mt 7:12.
