Start

Go to the Tools Menu and select Internet Options.

Fonts

On the General tab, near the bottom, select Fonts. Change your “web page font” to whatever font you would like to see at Second Exodus, and all other sites that allow this option. I find the Verdana font particularly helpful in “opening up” small type such as the menus on the top and bottom of these pages.

Users who would prefer to see web text in a particular color can also select Accessibility and check “Ignore colors specified on web pages.”

Temporary Internet Files

Internet Explorer stores recently viewed files in a temporary folder. The Second Exodus web site uses this to speed up page loading by re-using the same graphic elements many times. When the home page is opened for the first time, the colorful “Second Exodus” and the color bar take a few moments to download. However, Internet Explorer also keeps them in temporary storage. So when the user opens the next Second Exodus page, Internet Explorer takes these elements from the temporary storage so they do not have to be downloaded again. The same is true for the book image, my picture, etc.

To be sure Internet Explorer is set to keep these temporary files, on the same General tab as above, look for Temporary Internet Files and select Settings.

Link Colors

Moving the mouse pointer (cursor) over something is called “hovering.”

I enjoy seeing my links change color when I move the mouse pointer (cursor) over them.

If you think you might enjoy this as well, press the Colors button and select “use hover color.” The default color is red. If you would like to see another color, click on the red area. A color panel pops up. Select a color.

Link Underlines

Users who prefer that their links not be underlined can, again in Internet Options, select the Advanced tab. Go down until you see Underline Links and select Always, Hover (only while the mouse pointer is over the link) or Never.
